Default French Defence

The Inner Galactic Chess Federation has officially banned the French Defence.

Cast off the Shackles of the French Defence. White has lost patience with bothering to deliver a win against the Winawer and is simply playing the Tarrasch variation.

I live in a bilingual province. I expect the English Opening to be banned next, Gary by your Federation in the name of equity.

I hate to watch Canadian players get a crack at a high rated opponent and waste it with that defence.

The way to take your game to the next level includes losing low percentage defences and lines. Chess theory is alive and evolving. It's a case of keeping up.

Now I must run. I'm analysing Eurozone Banks.

Talking Re: French Defence

The French Defense cannot be banned on account of its coolness. As the leader of the French Rebellion I approve this message.

P.s im all for banning the english.

Also note, the Dutch Defense should be dammed. Not damned, dammed.

The Giuoco Piano. Every student of the game should learn that one.

Well, but in Steinitz's day the main line was the exchange variation.

Then the exchange variation completely refutes the opening as black has no chances to win.

A good player always has chances to win against a lesser one. And sometimes chances to lose, as well. Many years ago I beat Dan Scoones in what I remember as a half hour tournament game from the white side of the french exchange, not due to any merit of the variation, or much merit from myself, having just luckily caught him on a bad night.

That was back in the days when the VCCC was playing in the basement of the local MacDonald's.

on a somewhat related topic which organized crime syndicate do you prefer/think is stronger?

French/Corsican
Russian
Italian/Sicilian
Japanese
English
American/Modern
Spanish
Indian (the country)
Danish
Scandinavian

hey it was almost like they were naming organized crime syndicates after chess openings, almost

you know I've never lost out yet when I've put French dressing on a salad
